In celebrating the 100th anniversary of the lake's emergence in 1913 an open house was held there on April 14, 2013. Here professor Dr. Elisabeth Irmgard Meyer (right) and student Ewa Tomalak (left) are giving some explanations about the chironomids (Chironomidae) of the Heiliges Meer nature reserve. They are both members of the Institut für Evolution und Biodiversität, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster.
Deutsch: Besuchergelände am Erdfallsee im Naturschutzgebiet „Heiliges Meer“ in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Die Entstehung des Sees am 14. April 1913 durch einen plötzlichen Erdfall feierte das LWL-Museum für Naturkunde mit einem „Tag der offenen Tür“ seiner Außenstelle Heiliges Meer. Hier geben Professorin Dr. Elisabeth Irmgard Meyer (rechts) und Studentin Ewa Tomalak (links) einige Erläuterungen zur Kleinlebewelt des Naturschutzgebiets Heiliges Meer, speziell zur Zuckmücken-(Chironomidae-)-Fauna. Beide sind vom Institut für Evolution und Biodiversität, Abteilung für Limnologie, der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster. |
