| Tigtulidong | This is a direct scan, which I made myself, from bulbs of two different clones of Galanthus reginae-olgae and G. elwesii 'Peter Gatehouse' from my garden in the Midlands of England; the middle plant is typical of G. reginae-olgae and flowers for me from late October or early November for a couple of months (some late flowers even appear in the New Year) with the leaves emerging much later than the flowers and lengthening as they fade. The smaller-flowered plant to the left is what used to be called G. corcyrensis, which has now been renamed and given the snappy title Galanthus reginae-olgae subsp. reginae-olgae Winter-flowering Group: it generally starts flowering two to three weeks after the other and its leaves are longer at the time of flowering. The plant to the right is an early-flowering cultivar of Galanthus elwesii called 'Peter Gatehouse'; its first flowers generally appear in late November in my garden. |
